I figured its not TOO far away , we could find scalpers and that it would be a good drive . Finally Raul got a hold of his car and we hit the road at about 5 pm our time , Marfa is 200 miles a time change and one checkpoint away . So really it was calling it close considering its about 2 and a half hrs drive and a time change so almost 3 hrs and 1/2 . The Drive was fun . We played that game where you say something with each letter of the alphabet. we only made it about half way , we got side tracked. We had visions of lights and Stinky started freaking out thinking aliens were looking for her . Marfa just has a weird vibe to it and so does the drive. Finally we rolled up to a prada store in the middle of nowhere
now i knew we were getting close . Stinky's paranoia was getting bad , i think it had something to do with her fear of not getting into the show . Once in Marfa we looked for this place but had bad directions so we kinda got lost. Finally this cool pizza lady pointed us the right way. It was awesome they had a projection that said "conor oberst & the mystic valley band " i was so excited !! we MADE it !!! now to get inside........ after finding a parking spot i saw someone walking towards me and i asked if conor had played and he informed me that the Felice Brothers had just finished, man i was sooooo mad . i like them and i truly could not believe i had missed them . So we decide to walk towards the venue , lots of smokers taking their breaks were outside. I once heard "Act like you know what you are doing and no one will ask anything" . So with this mantraing in my mind , i walked up to the venue . And to my surprise the door opened , so i walked in scared of some bald headed bouncer asking me for my tickets and telling me to leave once he found out i didnt have any (i guess i forgot i was in marfa) . No security what so ever at all , this place was awesome it seemed like a cabin or something it had a warm feeling to it . So i decided to look for Duran . Who i found right away thanks to his shirt i recognized. It was awesome meeting up , especially once he told me it was free wine and tecate's!!! As i got the news about the free alcohol i felt someone looking at me . She was beautiful , we had eye contact and she said i could take the seat next to her . I settled down and saw i had a great view of the stage . Man , she smelled great . haha . I left the row to go get some free booze . We shared small talk but it felt different , it felt like we knew each other , we talked the whole show .
Conor Oberst's new LP was made in Tepoztlán, Morelos, México during the months of January and February, 2008. In Tepoztlán – a place known for Aztec Magic and Extra-Terrestrial Sightings – a temporary studio was created in a mountain villa called Valle Místico at the outskirts of the town. It was there that Oberst and the band lived and worked in near perfect harmony, often unaware of the hour or the day.Marfa was aperfect place to end the Tour. Finally they came on ...............well a picture of conor was supposed to go here but i dont know how to drag pictures yet. They sounded great!! It was such a warm intimate show ... me and conor had a couple staring contests, i swear he is a jedi or something . Before i knew it my single serving friend was saying goodbye . The encore was amazing he started calling everyone from the tour out one by one . The felice Brothers played a couple songs w/him . It was the last day of the tour and you could tell all these people became family on the road , they closed with "Don't want to die in a hospital" EPIC ENCORE , EPIC SHOW , EPIC BAND , EPIC LADY , EPIC FRIENDS AND EPIC ADVENTURE ... EPIC NIGHT . I got to see them for free at a once in a lifetime show . It was truly a night to remember . So we went to Wendy's to celebrate our drive home
P.s - we almost hit a wolf but we did'nt
P.s.s- Stinky is a scardycat
